Our History

Heritage
and future

With over 90 years of history, the Maison reflects the spirit of its founder, Gaston Burtin, a visionary as discreet as he was ambitious. Quickly building a reputation for excellence, Maison Burtin stands out for its savoir-faire and its ability to innovate while respecting tradition. Having worked for decades, mainly at the local level, the Maison now looks outward, sharing its expertise far beyond the Champagne region.

Since 1933

Gaston Burtin is the man who started it all. Arriving in Épernay with youthful audacity and bold ideas, he established his Champagne business in 1933. Unknown and starting from nothing, his foresight, commercial acumen, and strong ties to local growers built his reputation within a few short years, making him a key figure in Champagne.

In the 1950s, during years of abundant harvests, he supported growers by recognising the potential of their grapes, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to the viticultural community. Over 70 years later, this attitude resonates as a reciprocal bond of loyalty that continues to strengthen ties between the Maison and its grower partners.

Fruit, elegance,
and freshness

Gaston Burtin remained close to his grower partners, those who had stood by him since the early days. For them, he crafted a Champagne from a precise and meticulous selection, characterised by: fruit, elegance, and freshness.

This Champagne, an expression of the Maison’s savoir-faire and exceptional supplies, bore his name on the label—a rare privilege bestowed as a gesture of gratitude, and a way to nurture the enduring bond between them, to show his appreciation, by offering them the best, the quintessence of what his Maison produces.

Today

"Since the beginning of 2024, I’ve had the honour of leading Maison Burtin. My work follows in the footsteps of our founder and those who came after him.

As a passionate wine professional, my ambition is to position the discreet Maison Burtin as a Champagne, and to bring greater visibility to our signature, Hommage à Gaston Burtin, so that it shines sustainability within the landscape of Champagne brands.

To carry this ambition forward, I rely on a skilled and committed team, guided by strong values: hard work, respect, solidarity, and a deep sense of service. I am convinced that businesses have an essential societal role to play in today’s world, and I have committed Maison Burtin to a CSR approach. With Hommage à Gaston Burtin, we are asserting more than ever our commitment to quality and our desire to elevate the Maison"
